Your numbers, your business.

Doughcast holds some of the most personal numbers in your life. Here’s how we look after them, minus the legalese.

What we believe

Your plan is yours.

Back it up whenever you like, and take it with you if you ever leave. No hostage situations.

We’re paid by subscriptions.

That’s the business. Your financial life isn’t something we package up and sell.

Plain words, no surprises.

If something changes about how Doughcast handles your data, you’ll hear it from us first, in English.

How it works today

Doughcast is a Mac app, and your plan lives on your Mac. Here’s what keeps it there.

Encrypted with your password

Your plan sits in an encrypted database. The key that opens it is locked with your password, using a method built to make guessing slow and expensive.

Touch ID, if you like

Turn it on and the unlock key lives in your Mac’s secure chip, where it can’t be copied off.

Locks itself

After a few idle minutes (you choose how many), and whenever your Mac locks or sleeps.

Backups only you can open

Backups are encrypted too, and open only with your Doughcast password.

A cover for nosy onlookers

Press ⇧⌘P and a photo slides over your calendar while every amount turns to dots.

As Doughcast grows

Some things are on the way, like syncing between your devices. Others we’re still thinking about. When something new connects Doughcast to the outside world, we’ll tell you plainly what it does and what it shares, before you turn it on.

The fine print, in plain words

There’s no password reset. Only you hold the key, so we can’t reset it for you. Keep a backup, and pick a passphrase you’ll remember.
